Kiki's approach to Selective Exams
/
Summary:

Kiki is a platform that believes in helping children achieve their best potential.

As responsible stakeholders in the Industry, we thought it prudent to articulate our thoughts about the approach to this exam.

This article is an attempt to layout our thinking and be open to feedback and adjustments.

Selective exam is an important experience but is definitely not an end all. It may happen for your child or it may not. What is important is, giving your child the best resources and letting them perform to the best of their abilities.

Once the exam is done, our job is done.

The results will come in and the process will take over.

However, that doesn't mean we don't try our best. What is important is how we approach this exam?

As parents,

- are we disconnected from this experience all together or
- a demanding parent wanting them to succeed no matter what or
- somewhere in between the 2 extremes

Like most of the parents we have spoken with, at Kiki, we believe:
that parents and the educational ecosystem should be a friendly companion to the child.

And don't get us wrong, we definitely don't think the other ways are wrong. Ultimately a parent and the family knows their child and what is best for them.

At Kiki, how we approach this question is important? It defines things like:
1. What is the tone of our communication with the child
2. How much we expect them to practice
3. How the reports are generated
4. How to show competitive performance of each child

These may seem to be small decisions but have an outsized impact on the experience of the child.

We definitely feel that a supportive, positive, encouraging environment is most helpful in bringing out the best in every child.

So when your child tries Kiki, we want them:
- to find a digital tutor who is not demanding but always there to help
- to have a smart assistant who can help them navigate this stressful period while doing their best
- to motivate them to do enough but never push them

We hope the message resonates with you.  If you feel strongly otherwise, please message us and share your views. We are always open to listen to parents' feedback and fine-tune our approach.
