In April 2022, I saw my niece, Avani, deep in her Year 6 Selective Exams preparation. Her commitment was evident; she took classes, studied with friends, and yet stress was a constant companion.

One evening, I took a closer look at these syllabus and questions. They were really challenging. With the stakes so high (getting into Selective schools allow you to be surrounded by other gifted kids). So I could totally understand the pressure. With my own experience of preparing of competitive exams, I would have performed badly for this exam. That night it struck me: there has to be a more student friendly way to study for this exam.

Celebrations were in order when Avani got into her desired school just two months later. Her success was a testament to her hard work.

Then came November 2022, the entire world discovered the power of AI for the first time with the launch of ChatGPT. As I explored its potential, a thought emerged: could this be the tool that will transform education forever?

Eager to make a difference, I picked up coding, especially Python. The more I understood ChatGPT, the clearer its potential for education became.

I talked to many parents and students who have gone through the process of Year 6 Selective Exams. Their feedback was consistent: exam prep was tough and full of pressure. This feedback reinforced my belief in the idea.

Initially, I aimed for a two-week prototype. With my rudimentary skills of coding, that stretched to two months. But by August 2023, Kiki was born. The early users, primarily students, found it useful, and word began to spread.

Now, as we head into November 2023, Kiki stands improved, very stable and less prone to bugs and poised to assist many more students in their academic journey.

I am excited by it's potential to make a real difference in the lives of students and parents preparing for this tough exam.
